Technology-First Approach
Have you ever been in this situation? You have implemented the latest technology, a solution guaranteed to be faster, cheaper and better. And then no one uses it.
CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CDAOs and GMs reach out to me often with this challenge. Their teams bought or licensed a new technology or SAAS solution, or spent time and resources building a master data environment, but they have not extracted any value from that investment.
They fell into a common trap - taking a technology-first approach to solving a business problem. Instead, I work with them to define their most valuable use cases. What business problems are you trying to solve? How will your business stakeholders use this data or solution to inform a decision or take an action?
In other words, we take a business-first approach. In most cases, we’re able to execute relatively quick and inexpensive changes to the technology to begin extracting immediate value. Technology is a means to the end, not the end in itself.
